I focus on working with couples experiencing trust and communication issues, women experiencing relationship issues, and men wanting to emotionally connect in their relationships.
Couple therapy sessions may be helpful for many couples whether dating, living together, maintaining a long-distance relationship, or in a stable, long-term marriage. Some typical issues addressed in couple therapy are infidelity, chronic illness, sex, anger, communication problems, child rearing, finances, substance abuse, and culture clashes. You don’t have to be in the midst of a crisis to seek out help. I create a safe place for both partners to establish compassionate communication and connection.
Premarital counseling focuses on arming clients with tools needed for a successful marriage. Prepare/Enrich assessment may be used to guide the conversations. Prepare/Enrich is a widely researched assessment questionnaire used to help couples clearly see where their strengths lie and what areas have room to grow.
Men and women in any walk of life can benefit from individual therapy. Therapy is a good place to process relationship issues (whether at work, with friends, family, or intimate relationships), career transitions, work and life stresses, anxiety, and depression.
Grief & Loss
I view grief as the emotional response to a loss, any kind of loss. The loss of a loved one, job, home, health, security or safety, or the loss of a part of ourselves. All of these experiences often result in feelings of overwhelming sadness, depression, anxiety, and confusion. Therapy is a safe place to address these feelings.
Yoga in Therapy
I am a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT-200) and, if you choose to do so, can introduce yoga techniques in-session to promote expanded breath and body awareness.
