You may have some questions…

Do you accept insurance?

Empower You Therapy is a private pay practice and does not contract with or bill any insurance companies.

If you have out-of-network benefits and wish to use them, please verify your benefits with your insurance company.  I’ll give you a detailed receipt (aka superbill) to submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement.  You pay the session fee and then can submit the superbills for reimbursement from your insurance company.

You may also want to check out Mentaya, a platform that helps clients submit out-of-network reimbursement requests.  Check out their out-of-network benefit check tool below.

Do you accept employee assistance programs (EAP)?

I participate in LYRA EAP. Check your benefits to see if your employer offers LYRA EAP.

How do I pay for sessions?

Cash (only for in-person sessions), credit, debit, Health Savings Accounts (HSA), and FSA cards are accepted for payment. I require a valid credit/debit card to be on file for all clients.

Can another person pay for my therapy?

Yes, you’ll add the payment information in the Client Portal. If you need to change your form of payment, you can update your payment information in the portal at any time.

How often will we meet for sessions?

Treatment programs are customized for each client’s individual needs. We may meet weekly, three times a month, or every other week. The frequency can be adjusted to best support your therapeutic journey.  EMDR therapy intensive programs range from 1 to 3 days of 3-hour long treatment at a time.

Do we meet in-person or online?

We can do either.  For in-person sessions, we’ll meet at my Shoreview office.  For online sessions, I’ll send you a link to my virtual office. Please note that online sessions are only available to clients physically present in the state of Minnesota.

What’s your cancellation policy?

A minimum of 24-hour notice is required. Cancellations with less than 24-hour notice are charged 50% of fee.  Cancellations with less than 12-hour notice and no-shows are charged the full session fee.

I offer a 15 to 25 minute consultation to learn more about what you’d like to address in therapy, answer your questions, share how I work, and for both of us to assess fit.

Good Faith Estimate Notice

The following notice is required under the federal No Surprises Act.

“You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost.

Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services.

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services.

You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service.

If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.

For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call (800) 985-3059.”
