TRAUMA THERAPY

How do I know that I’ve experienced trauma?

You may have grown up with an emotionally distant or abusive parent.  Maybe you were abused.  You may have been cheated on. Maybe you had to grow up too quickly to take care of your parent or siblings. All of these experiences can be traumatizing.

Experiences that cause trauma can be subtle. The effects may be showing up for you today as:

• Anxiety or depression
• Withdrawing from your partner, not letting go of arguments, or developing co-dependence
• Low self-esteem
• Feeling unlovable, alone, or not good enough
• Keeping yourself small.

Effects of trauma can linger and negatively affect your life. You may have symptoms of anxiety or depression (or both at the same time). You may notice more fears and worries. Are you always on guard or waiting for the other shoe to drop? Do you create distance in your relationships, so you don’t get hurt? Maybe you do what others want to the detriment of your own well being. Are you staying small?  All of these fears, thoughts, and behaviors may have resulted from trauma you’ve experienced.

If these are your experiences and they are negatively impacting your life, trauma therapy can help. Trauma therapy will help you work through these experiences, so you feel empowered and show up in life as your strong, authentic, resilient self.

You can heal from trauma.

There is a light at the end of the tunnel.  Working through the memories of the distressing exepriences you’ve been through will remove the impact they have on your life today.  You’ll feel empowered to show up in life as your strong, authentic, and resilient self.

Therapy with a trauma therapist provides you with a safe space to heal. I offer 15-minute consultation to learn more about you and to answer questions you may have about trauma therapy. Call me at 612-808-0953. Or get in touch
